In the world before cell phones, self portraits were a lot harder to do. And you didn’t have anywhere to post them afterwards, anyhow.
This was on a cork board that was tossed out of a liquor store that closed down in Boston. It’s always made me a little sad because she looks rather shy, so I always imagine it took a lot of courage for her to hand this to the liquor store guy and have him pin it up on his cork board behind the counter. Plus, the framing is so odd. I always wonder why she’s on the far left and what was to the left of her. It’s as if the camera swung right on purpose in order to keep someone out of the snapshot. I wonder if she still has those pants.
Found this in Boston. I always though this a little macabre. Does she know that guy is following her where her eyes don’t go?
